Beyond Fury

Soutine is a legend. His enlightenment of art, aesthetic ideas, and life shrouded in mystery; his paintings, mysterious and bloody with wonderful but obscure techniques, not only root in the tradition but also lead the modern trends. Even today, people think in different ways concerning the evaluation of his paintings. Soutine was born in a poor Jewish family and lived in bad conditions. His paintings are full of exaggerated emotions and hysterical, mantic even crucial morbid mentality, towards which the critics have a wide spectrum of opinions.According to my research and understanding, the times and the environment will inevitably mark the artist with pain and struggle psychologically. But as an accomplished master who dedicated his life to the pursuit of arts, he never allows his work to be a psychological vent. In his works ,we not only feel the conflicts and sensitivity which are beyond the ordinary minds, but also feel discord, confusion, as well as the optimism. Soutine's works function as an expressive language and explore into people's internal world. These works express the deep understanding towards life from a unique perspective of a great artist and an expressionist.This paper attempts to analyze Soutine's works from three aspects. the first part discusses how to absorb the power of intuition of Soutine's paintings from such aspects as the strength of colour, the violence of brush strokes, and the exaggeration of appearance;The second part tries to understand Soutine's unique and supernormal angles of view from his sensitiveness ,the inside and outside circumstances of contradictions ,as well as his sincere explorations upon techniques and expressive forces; The third part deals with the enlightenment we get from Soutine.
