Luchun County Cattle Hole Township Bilingual Status Of Research

Bilingual use, in any multi-ethnic country, is a very important phenomenon, thereafter, this phenomenon and bilingual types have been widely studies. In this modern and globalized times, language use and language choice of minorities in multi-ethnic countries have carries out a great impact, not only on language adaptation and national development triggered by its utilizing nature, but also in spiritual and cultural fields whose meaning and value are carried by language. Therefore, studies on bilingual use and bilingual types are theoretically and practically significant.Through interview and investigation for four ethnic towns in Niukong Xiang Luchun County Yunnan Province:Hani Village Zhongla Village, Yi Village-Tuga Village, Lahu Village-Longtian Village, Yao village-Zheyao Village, this paper analyzes types of bilingual usage, the cause of this phenomenon, the villagers attitude towards bilingual usage and its development trend in Niukong Village. This paper adopts literature analysis and field survey, together with sociological and cultural theory and method with comprehensive perspectives. Literature mainly includes the studies on language utilization, types and attitude of ethnic and linguistic studies both at home and abroad. At the same time, the use of advanced technology, field survey by recording, interview, questionnaire, the state of bilingual utilization is analyzed.The paper consists of three parts:the introduction, body and conclusion.Part one mainly introduces the significance of this research, the situation of researches both at home and board, the methodology, and the interpretation of important concepts and terminology.The main body of this paper is from chapter one to four.Chapter one introduces geographical and cultural environment of Luchun county, including the natural geography, nationality types and distribution, traditional ethnic culture.Chapter two investigates villages of Hani, Yi, Lahu and Yao nationality in Luchun County, presents the state of language usage, finds that there are monolingual, bilingual and multilingual types, and analyzes the effect of age, sex and education on language usage types.Chapter three analyzes the causes of bilingual usage in Luchun County. According to the history and current situation of Luchun County, and the author's investigation and analysis, it is decided that the influence of the continuation of history and the national living pattern, the need of real life, the appeal to and the popularization of education, the popularization of Chinese media, marriage and family all lead to bilingual usage and the variety of language. Chapter four presents the attitude and the development trend of language use of the minorities in Luchun County. In term of the language attitude, people tend to learn other languages, in consideration of personal and national development, however, they are unwilling to see the disappearance of their own language. From the perspective of the statistical data of our research, three trends of the bilingual development in are presented Luchun County:bilingual phenomenon will be increasingly common; bilingual phenomenon will be existing for a long time, regionalization will be prominent and spreading with the population migration.Chapter five is the further discussion and conclusion. It concludes the contents and the main idea of this paper, based on the investigation of Luchun County. Furthermore, it explores the relationship between the language use and national development, cultural traditions and ethnic identity from a more widely aspect.
