This paper discusses the particular educational function of Hmong drum dance form an angle over cultural continuity and education; Meanwhile, it makes an in-depth analysis upon Hmong drum dance in Dehang by Structural functionalism and Investment theory.The paper is arranged as four parts, which is presented as follows:The introduction mainly includes genesis of thesis choose, research intent, value, theories, core concept, research method and literature summarize.Chapter 1 introduces the origin and development about Hmong drum dance and elaborates the features about that in DEHANG, analyzing the case about culture heritance of Hmong drum dance in DEHANG.Chapter 2 mainly deals with the extraordinary role Hmong drum dance plays in educational innovation, meantime, pointing out it's other functions as a traditional culture, which interweaves with the former, making a notable influence on the development of local society.Chapter 3 illustrates the definitions of both "fulfillment of wants" and "function of culture" within the culture functionalism theory. Combined with the analysis over Hmong drum dance, the paper indicates that culture fulfills the wants that brings culture out; accordingly, it is indispensable to excavate various traditional functions today to impart its new and sustained vitality. Thus, several means are propound at the end the paper. For instance, taken as educational source, it could be applied on a large scale in schools to achieve the comprehensive education. What's more, it can also be exploited with new forms of art and recreation, stepping into a prevalent local mass culture, furthermore, a world-recognized culture. Additionally, local business could possibly make a progress due to the traditional cultural as an economic means if developed well. Despite these conspicuous functions, it is worth noting that they are not isolated but an integral one in motion that urge the development of human society.
