In the 1990s when sharp transition and turbulence happened to social economy and values as well as the marketing system has been established, commercial culture has influenced every fields: being in the multilateral-affected structural relationship, some new changes have happened to Chinese politics, economy and culture. At the same time, a group of people born in 1960s emerged in Chinese literary arena and film circle. They are the Younger Generation writers group and the Sixth Generation directors group. At first, the author teases the names of these two artist groups in the intellectual history and identifies the scope that this thesis studies. Then through careful reading and film analyzing, the author compares the similarities of the artistic features of the works of those two artist groups and finds out: firstly, the personalized narrations based on the grand anti-collective narrations and the real representation of the fragmented and episodic illogical daily life; secondly, the cold narration without direct subjective judgment commonly revealed in their works; thirdly, the cities described artistically and the values attached to the semblance of the cities; fourthly, their attention to the marginal men of the lowest class; fifthly, their common interest in the growth subject with cruel youth; sixthly, the absence of father in the works and the subversive writing of paternity as well as the anxiety of identity identification that refracted by these.Based on the contrary analysis of the similarities of the works of these two artistic groups, the author seeks for the sources hidden behind the similarity mainly from three aspects: first, the status as latecomers in the literary and film circles makes them choose the attitude of rebels. Second, their all being born in 1960s lets them have the same narration resources. Third, they all choose initiatively or passively to depart from the institution and are in a relatively independent living condition, the identity of outside-institution jointly has a great influence on them. Finally, the author analyzes the film factors in the works of the Younger Generation writers group as well as the literary factors in the works of the Sixth Generation directors group to have a preliminary discussion of the mutual influence between literature and film.
