| Along with the two movements of"Hubei and Hunan to Sichuan", the extensive immigrations from Hubei and Hunan to Sichuan Province during the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, Hunan dialect took root in Sichuan. Based on the first investigation of Huguang Dialect in Xiaohan Town, Guanghan City, Sichuan Province, I described in details the system of pronunciation of"Huguang Dialect"in Xiaohan Town, and summarized the pronunciation characteristics on the basis of comparison with middle anicient pronunciation, as well as the dialect in the downtown of Guanghan which belongs to the Sichuan dialect, thereby to demonstrate its status quo, history and origins.This paper comprised 4 chapters:Chapter One is the introduction which presents the conditions in Guanghan City and Xiaohan Town, such as geography, history, population, language and so on, and puts forward the significance of this study. Chapter Two is the system of pronunciation of"Huguang Dialect"in Xiaohan Town which includes the initials, finals and tones.Chapter Three described the initials, finals, tones'combinations in"Huguang Dialect"in Xiaohan Town and concluded the characteristics of these combinations.Chapter Four compared the initials of"Huguang Dialect"in Xiaohan Town with the initials of anicient Chinese sound, and the dialect in the downtown of Guanghan . Chapter Five compared the finals of Xiaohan Huguang Dialect with the finals of anicient Chinese sound, and the dialect in the downtown of Guanghan.Chapter Six compared the tones of"Huguang Dialect"in Xiaohan Town with the tones of anicient Chinese sound, and the dialect in the downtown of Guanghan.Chapter Seven studied Xiaohan Huguang Dialect's variant pronunciation resulted from the differences between oral and written, meanings, ages.Chapter Eight is the conclusion. In this chapter, I expounded the real origins of"Huguang Dialect"in Xiaohan Town, and prospected the developing trend. |
