College Students' Personality Traits, Psychological Capital And Its Relationship With Mental Health,

This study selected 455 college students from different grades, different genders and different majors as a sample, with symptom check list-90 (SCL-90),Eysenck personality questionnaire Short Scale for Chinese (EPQ-RSC) and positive psychological capital questionnaire(PPQ), and discussed the relationship among mental health, personality characteristics and psychological capital of college students.The findings are showed as the following:Firstly,In grade aspect, the mental health of college students shows that the freshmen are significantly lower than sophomores, juniors and seniors in paranoia ideation.In gender aspect, the females are higher than males in anxiety and phobia anxiety. In specialized aspect, art students are lower than non-art students in somatization, interpersonal sensitivity, paranoid ideation and psychoticism. In the interaction on grade and gender, the females are higher than males of seniors in somatization, obsessive-compulsive, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, hostility, paranoid ideation and psychoticism.Secondly, In specialized aspect, the personality characteristics of college students shows that non-art students are obviously higher than art students in neuroticism. However, there are no distinguished differences in the personality characteristics among the college students either in grade or gender aspect. In the interaction on Bade and gender, the males are higher than females of juniors in neuroticism.Thirdly, in grade aspect, the psychological capital of college students shows that the freshmen are higher than the other three grade students. In gender aspect, the females are significantly higher than males in hope. In specialized aspect, art students are higher than non-art students in self-efficacy and hope. In the interaction on grade and gender, the females are higher than males of freshmen in optimism.Fourthly,Neuroticism and psychoticism have significantly positive correlation with the total points of mental health and it's nine factors, but extrovision and psychological capital have obviously negative correlation with that.Fifthly, the analysis on multiple regression shows that neuroticism, extrovision and optimism have significant predications on the mental health.
