The internet penetrates into every aspect of people’s daily life, and also the cyber-bullying phenomenon happens. Cyber-bullying is a new way who use telecommunication repetitively 〠aggressively 〠intentionally to attack victims and hurt them. In the last decade,psychologists from all over the world have a research on cyber-bullying in different cultural background, it has a cross-cultural universality. Domestic adolescents’ cyber-bullying research is still in an early age and studying college students’ cyber-bullying phenomenon is even few. It’s necessary to take a research to prove this phenomenon in China cultural backgrounds.The research is made up of 660 college students from four different universities in Chongqing.Using questionnaires to investigate the basic feature of college student cyber bulling behavior. From personality traits and mental health two aspects to approach the relationship effect mechanism between college student cyber-bullying behavior with personalityã€mental health. And aim to that point, taking out theoretical basis to preserve it. Here’s the conclusion:1ã€Cyber-bullying phenomenon is highly common in college.92% of them fell victim or knew others had cyber bullied at least one time.49.8% of them had cyber bullied to others at least one time.65.9% of them suffered from cyber-bullying at least one time.Laughing at others is the main way to bully others, then harass messagesã€rumor mongering. They are happens in internet instant messages(QQã€Wechat),then smart phonesã€online games are also the common medium.2ã€Different from traditional bullying, cyber-bullying have no connection with grades, which is because cyber-bullying’s anonymityã€none face-to-faceã€dependence in spatial and temporal trait fade away the grades this index.3ã€Gender factors make significant difference in Cyber-bullying. Boys are more likely to get the incidence rate of cyber-bullying than girls, whosever attitude is, the bystanders, the bullies or the victims of bullying. In the view of common media and three concrete forms of Cyber-bullying, boys are more than girls as well. This is different from foreign research, which reveals that the cyber-bullying behaviors are influenced by different cultures.4ã€Generally, grade factors make less difference in Cyber-bullying. A third party point of view,the incidence rate of cyber-bullying to juniors is more than other grades, which might be involvedwith the sufficient spare time of juniors. For most college students, juniors could spend more time in cyber compared with other students, because they have no pressure to adapt to a new environment,no pressure to take CET-4, CET-6, or TEM-4 in sophomore year, and no pressure to hunt a job. As a result, the incidence rate of cyber-bullying to juniors is higher.5ã€In the five dimensions of The Big Five(Openness to experience, Conscientiousness,Extraversion, Agreeableness and Neuroticism), scores on the neuroticism have a positive correlation with the incidence rate of cyber-bullying, however, agreeableness and conscientiousness have negative correlation with that. The cyber-bullying situation will be better to certain students who can have good emotions, be close to others, trust others, have self-control and delayed gratification need ability.6ã€Scores on ten SCL-90 correlated factors have a positive correlation with three viewpoints of cyber-bullying behaviors. Students who score positive in SCL-90 will have a bad psychological health and will tend to pick up cyber-bullying behaviors.7ã€School can advocate activities held by departments and students’ unions to enrich students’ spare time to decrease the dependence on Internet. That is, lessen cyber-bullying behaviors by cut down the time spent on surf.
