"The development of production, affluent life, civilized custom, clean and tidy villages, and democratic management" is the proposed requirements of new rural construction on the Fifth Session of the Sixteenth Central Committee of the CPC. New Countryside Construction calls for new farmers. New farmers focus deeply on the future destiny of the individual and the village and they have a sensitive understanding on the whole community. Due to the conflict during the transformation of the new and old concepts on the current rural system, there is a certain distance between the current state of farmers'mind and requirements of the construction of new countryside. At the same time we can see that, the traditional ideological and political work in rural areas has been difficult to keep up with the current rural social development, which requires that we must attach importance to strengthening the current ideological and political work of farmers, and finding out how to develop new farmers required by the construction of new countryside.Ideological state of farmers in Huozhou of Shanxi Province has certain typical characteristics in the interior provinces. Therefore, the study of ideological and political work on farmers in the town of Xinzhi Huozhou will have some typical sense for the new rural construction.This paper aims to explore some major problems existed among farmers, through investigation on ideological status of the farmers in the town of Xinzhi Huozhou, and also introduced exploration and innovation of the new rural construction by Xinzhi in recent years, so as to analyze various of prominent factors in ideological work of farmers and propose countermeasures to strengthen the ideological work of farmers.
