American Civic Education Analysis And Its Significance

The United States civic education is the process which educate the citizens of a democratic society . Through several a hundred years, the American civics education already accumulate considerable experience . It has the unusual function in trainning qualified civics,and realizing political aim of capitalist society,and getting the country develop.This text is based on the theories of Socialist theory and Chinese political education,and use literature research method and comprehensive analysis method to do the study and analysis.First the thesis makes an explanation of the cause,the worth,and the present situation in the domestic and foreign study about the topic.The first chapter describes the meaning of American education and the development process, in describing its broad and narrow meaning, and on the understanding of civic education in the United States. There are three points in success of civic education in the United States: (a)The establishment of the values of individualism, (b)Citizenship enjoys popular support.(c)Strong patriotic feelings. Problems in American public education are:(a) Extreme individualism(b) Civic apathy and political attitudes(c)There is no uniform ethical standards and teaching materials.
