The United States civic education is the process which educate the citizens of a democratic society . Through several a hundred years, the American civics education already accumulate considerable experience . It has the unusual function in trainning qualified civics,and realizing political aim of capitalist society,and getting the country develop.This text is based on the theories of Socialist theory and Chinese political education,and use literature research method and comprehensive analysis method to do the study and analysis.First the thesis makes an explanation of the cause,the worth,and the present situation in the domestic and foreign study about the topic.The first chapter describes the meaning of American education and the development process, in describing its broad and narrow meaning, and on the understanding of civic education in the United States. The next, the chapter review the development stage of American public education. The course is divided into five stages: the founding period, the same period, the expansion period, the ups and downs during their post-World War II.The second chapter describes the American civic education status and trends. First, the chapter introduce the American civic education, and the educational methods rely on. Followed by analysis its future direction .The U.S. public education has three trends: social and personal values are combined with, the globalization of civic education , diversity education.Introducing by the former two, the chapter comes to successful and shortcomings, and the reasons. There are three points in success of civic education in the United States: (a)The establishment of the values of individualism, (b)Citizenship enjoys popular support.(c)Strong patriotic feelings. Problems in American public education are:(a) Extreme individualism(b) Civic apathy and political attitudes(c)There is no uniform ethical standards and teaching materials. Then analyze the reasons for the success and shortcomings.Chapter IV reaches the profound experience of civic education of the United States. The ideological and political education of our country get some good inspiration. The inspiration: (a)Highlight the important role of ideological and political education. (b) Prominence winning the ideological and political education, practice and services, increase the effectiveness of education. (c) Focus on education, dominant and recessive combination of education, "indoctrination" and "infiltrate" both. (d)Pay attention to ideological and political education and economic, political, balanced development. (e) set up the Civil Division in the political education system. (f) According to national circumstances, build a public education system with Chinese characteristics...
