World War Ii Policy Of Containment Of, The United States To Albania

Under the historical background from 1945 to 1961, this essay is aiming to discuss the containment diplomatic policy conducted by the US to Albania after the Second World War in terms of an analysis of its formation, basic logic, components and future tendency. It is recognized that the containment policy taken by the US to Albania is an inevitable outcome of the"containing communism"strategic goal of the US against Soviet Union during the Cold War. In the background of the"globalism", a strong characteristic of exclusiveness can be seen from national interest and ideology of the US, which also functioning as cornerstone of its diplomatic policy. The main components of the containment policy can be considered as external interference by utilizing the territorial and racial issue between Albania and its neighbor; support of opposition to Albania in subversive activities; economic blockade as well as diplomatic isolation. Since mid-1950s onwards, the emphasis of the US's diplomatic policy to Albania has shifted to a"peaceful evolution"as a clear target. However, the continuity of containing is still the essence of the policy. The cold war between the US and Albania has not changed. During this period of time, the relationship between the US and Albania not only can be featured as the general characteristics of national relationships between the US and Soviet Union and eastern European countries, but also has its own unique complicacy and variety. So far, there is a lack of systematic literature and scholarship concentrating on the diplomatic relationship between the US and Albania in Chinese academia, which are only mentioned by studies of the diplomatic relationship between the US and Soviet Union and other eastern European countries. Therefore, this essay will contribute to the exploration of diplomatic history and diplomatic policy.
