Individual rights is not only an important concept in the book Anarchy, state, andutopia, but also the logical starting point of Nozick’s political philosophy.As animportant representative of Contemporary Neo-Liberalism, Robert Nozick,during hiswhole life, upholds extreme free position, firmly defends the rights of priority andemphasizes the thoroughness of individual rights and supreme.This unique theory hasa profound impact on the academic perspective in academia.The author tries to reveal Nozick’s thoughts of individual rights through themethod of text analysis.This paper first inspects the concept of individual rights andits historical evolution from the perspective of philosophy history, in hope to clarifythe basic connotation and theoretical origin of Nozick’s so-called individualrights.Secondly, through the analysis of the main contents of the book Anarchy, state,and utopia,this paper attempts to depict Nozick’s natural state as the beginning,individual rights as the basement, in turns to deduce the minimum state, holdingjustice view and utopian theory as the main developing path.Thirdly, the author makesa brief introduction to other thinkers about the individual rights theory and presentsthe controversial prospect of the individual righst.Finally, according to the content ofNozick’s idea of individual rights from two respective aspects of theory and reality,this paper points out the possible existence of deficiencies and the places can be usedfor reference and give a full summary of this paper.
