The Influence Of Datong 's Thought On Early Intellectuals' Accepting Marxism

The sinicization of Marxism inherently contains the combination of Marxism and Chinese traditional culture. The thought of Da Tong is well-established,and it is one of the bright pearls in the treasure house of Chinese traditional culture.Its dream of constructing a Da Tong society in which property is shared to all men,everyone is equal,exploitation is eliminated,and the world is for all,is a social ideal for which Chinese people has been striving for thousands of years.From the hundred schools of thought of the spring and autumn to the people who are actuated by high ideals during the late Ming and early Qing periods,the thought of Da Tong is expanded and enriched by numerous scholars and thinkers.Particularly, in modern times,the thought of Da Tong was integrated into the advanced blood of "western learning",thus it has a further development,in which Hong Xiuquan’s Taiping ideal,Kang Youwei’s Datong society and Sun Zhongshan’s people’s livelihood socialism is the typical examples. These thoughts that represent the objective requirements of the development of modern Chinese social history has an obviously objectively historical progress. At the same time,it also greatly helps to promote the emancipation of people’s mind and makes ideological and theoretical groundwork for the spread of the Marx doctrine in China. But because of the class and the historical limitations, their thoughts of Da Tong is only a fancy.The Da Tong thought and Marxism has a common spirit of resisting class oppression and exploitation and a similar aspire to seek equal rights,and there are some similarities between Da Tong world and Communist society,therefore,the thought of Da Tong is helpful to clear a lot of cognitive disorder for the early intellectuals to accept Marxism. In other words,the thought of Da Tong is a cultural gene for the early intellectuals to accept the Marx doctrine. It mainly appears as the follows:the Da Tong thought communicates the early intellectuals with Marxist class struggle ideology,bridges the early intellectuals with Marxist equality view,links the early intellectuals with the theory of scientific socialism,and promote the early sinicization of Marxism historical process.However,the thought of Da Tong and Marxism are two heterogeneous culture,they have some large differences. It is hard to avoid the misinterpretation of Marxism when the early intellectuals use the Da Tong thought to "analogy" the Marxism. Some people cannot exactly grasp the related terms and the whole theoretical system of Marx doctrine,and most of whom becomes historical mentalists. They advocate moderate improvement but against the class struggle and violent revolution.In addition,the absolute equalitarianism and deep-seated peasant ideology tendency in the Da Tong thought causes the "hard graft" phenomenon in practice.The spread and prevalence of Anarchism and the Chinese Utopian Socialism of which the main form is mutual aid are more or less affected by the traditional ideas of Datong.These practices caused great frustration to the sinicization of Marxism. The experience and lesson is worth deeply thinking and remembering.
