Urban traffic confronts serious traffic jam, environment pollution and low society efficiency with the development of the society. The key to this problem lies in removing the separation status between man, vehicle and road and regard trip; these factors as awhole0 Finally it builds a modern intelligent traffic system (ITS.) to settle up urban traffic problem by adopting kinds of intelligent traffic technology and GIS technology. ' 'The main jobs in this paper are:1. According to the develop experience of advanced ITS, it presents a frame of Beijing Intelligent Transportation System meant to solve the traffic problem and gives the function and constitution of each parts.2. This dissertation analyses the main technologies adopted in Beijing Intelligent Transportation Geography Information System, First, It designs and realizes data fusion and combines the sub traffic system in a communicating way on the GIS platform by using the GIS technology which supplies storage for the traffic information with spatial characteristic and its powerful spatial analysis and spatial demonstration ability,, This system give a whole new sight for urban traffic and afford a new way to manage ito Secondly, This system presents and realizes the vector stream data technology in its WebGIS which puts part of data operation on client and lessen the data transfer between server and client and resolve the large quantity data transfer problems,3. It completes Beijing Intelligent Traffic Management Geography Information System elementarily.
