| The state-owned foreign trade enterprises used to be the main force of China's foreign trade. They had very brilliant history. But with the development of market economy and China taking part in WTO, the government will allow less and less favorite policies to state-owned foreign trade enterprises. They have to participate in the market competition and rely on their own strength for existence and development. Under this kind of macro conditions, these enterprises are suffering deteriorating performance and hence encountering many difficulties. Then what should these enterprises do to recognize the current situation and how to deal with the difficulties? Starting from the realities facing the traditional state-owned foreign trade enterprises, the author of this thesis tries to analyze the current competitive environment and contributes some observations about their strategic development and management models in the future. This thesis is composed of five chapters. In the first chapter, the author analyzes the general situation of China's foreign trade and the government's development strategies in this field. That explains the macro competitive environment of the state-owned foreign trade enterprises. In the second chapter, the author makes detailed analysis on the current situation of these enterprises and the driving forces for their changing. In this way, the author tries to emphasize the necessity and urgency of their reform from the micro point of view. In the third chapter, the author applies the relevant analysis methods and points out theoretically the competitive advantages and disadvantages of the state-owned foreign trade enterprises, stressing their core competence. Based on the above analysis, the observations concerning the strategic development and adjustment are made. In the fourth chapter, typical living examples are used to explain the three basic strategies. To guarantee the realization of the strategic objectives, the author discusses, in chapter five, the implementation of these strategies, and put forward the specific measures that should be taken by these state-owned foreign trade enterprises. |
