Great changes have taken place in our society today under the influence of the constant development of technology, among which the appearance of network techniques turns out to be a great chance and a serious challenge as well for modernenterprises. The research object of this thesis-Virtual Enterprise is the veryproduct of the constant development of science and technology. Through surveying and analyzing the relative research achievements both home and abroad, this thesis discusses the phenomenon that the production modes experienced in human history change with the development of science and technology. As a symbol of modern big industry, Ford Mode eventually developed to its extent in 1980's. The reason that Virtual Enterprise Mode will substitute Ford Mode is totally the fruit of the development of science and technology. The appearance of computer and network techniques inevitably realizes people's request for a better production mode, namely the substitution of Virtual Enterprise Mode for Ford Mode.Former investigations into Virtual Enterprise are undertaken from the angles of technology, products and service, etc. by the method of reductionism. However, this thesis apts to adopt system analysis into the research with a microscopic perspective. On the basis of some internationally prevailing theories of complexity study, especially Complex Adaptive System (CAS) advanced by Holland from Senta Fe Institute in 1994, the thesis holds that Virtual Enterprise is a complex adaptive system and presents the problem of Virtual Enterprise's complexity along with its solutions. Thus, complexity study provides guidelines for the analysis of Virtual Enterprise, a new form of enterprises' organization, in the thesis. Meanwhile, from the analysis, it's useful to bear in mind some important references for enterprises' reformation in China. Finally, the thesis discusses the formation of dissipative structure in Virtual Enterprise and its inspirations for China's enterprises. Four points for the benefits of the recent reformation of China's state-owned enterprises are concluded as follows: first, assume enterprises' openness through digitalization; second, reform the present system of state-owned enterprises; third, implement enterprises' rearrangement; fourth, establish learning organization. All these are necessary for maintaining activeness. strengthening competitiveness and constructing flexibly adaptive dissipative structure in China's state-owned enterprises.
