Plains Steam Turbine Plant Development Strategy Research

Due to the reform of economic system, DEC(Dong fang Electric corporation) Zhongzhou Steam Turbine Works , a state-owned enterprise, was cornered and its production has been largely reduced. By using the framework of SWOT analysis, this paper discusses the strategic environment of Zhongzhou Steam Turbine Works for which there are many opportunities and threats, and the advantages and disadvantages of Zhongzhou Steam Turbine Works are found out. After doing this, the enterprise adjusted its strategies for operation from the focus of the enterprise to power plant auxiliary equipment. Then, changed the enterprise situation thoroughly.The strengths and weaknesses of Zhongzhou Steam Turbine Works can also be found by using SWOT analysis. On the basis of the analysis above, this paper also tries to discuss what kind of strategies Zhongzhou Steam Turbine Works should adopt for its future. A number of proposals, which are practical, are also made in the paper. What is more important is that the writer, would like to find an appropriate method for other state-owned Zhongzhou Steam Turbine Works to adjust their businesses.There are four parts in this paper. In part one, a brief introduction to Zhongzhou Steam Turbine Works ' s background is given and the reasons why the enterprise has been in such a difficult situation are also explained. Reform of economic system is the main factor that leads to the difficult position. In part two, SWOT analysis is made in this paper. Zhongzhou Steam Turbine Works has grasped the opportunities and adjusted its strategies. The enterprise finally extricated itself from the predicament. Part 3 analyses the future opportunity and challenges for the industry after China′s entry into WTO. Meanwhile, the part discusses the competition environment and the resources and ability of the enterprise, etc. Then wepose developing strategy of the enterprise, which is concetric diversification strategy, market penetrability and market development. Part 4 is about the proposals of implementing the strategic management of Zhongzhou Steam Turbine Works from five aspects. The first aspect is making full advantage of China′s entry to WTO and taking challenges of integration of the global economy. It is important for the enterprise to take measures to improve their comprehensive competence. These measures include hasten reforming of share system, establishing a modern system of the enterprise, enhancing internal management, improving technological innovation ability, implementing a proper intellectual and human resource development program, etc. All the proposals above are the prerequisites of the existence and development of Zhongzhou Steam Turbine Works in near future.
