Environmental Protection Industry (EPI), as the most important material and technical guarantee of environmental protection, is of great importance in fulfilling China's strategic destinations of social and economic development and promoting a harmonic development of society, economic and environment. And EPI is now a new growth point of our national economy.In our nation, EPI is a rising industry. It has a great development potential and there are many opportunities in this area. However, the present stage of EPI encounters problems in such fields as R&D, production, management and administration. For decision-makers of a fresh EPI company, the major issue is how to grasp the chance, to encounter the challenge and to seek space for survive and growth in the future. In this paper, the author chose the EPI company of CAEP(China Academy of Engineering Physics) as the study object, applied the basic theory and methods of strategic management along with positive analysis, made an overall and deep approach to both the internal and external factors which impact the company's development. On this basis, the author then suggested a basic strategy for the EPI Company of CAEP.There are 5 parts in this paper. Part one, the introduction, introduces mainly (1)CAEP and its EPI Company, (2)the background and motivation, the expectation and the procedure of this study. Part two presents first analysis on the company's strategic environment, including the macro environment and the EPI industry environment, (2) quantitative evaluation of the whole company by way of EFE Matrix, then finds the major chances and threats of the company. Part three is the analysis of the company's own resources and power. By quantitative evaluation with IFE Matrix, it points out the best advantage and the worst disadvantage of thecompany. Part four carries out the SWOT analysis of the company to set up it's strategic target and development strategies. Part five presents several problems that the EPI Company of CAEP should pay attention to in practicing the strategies.In conclusion, this paper analyzes the strategic surroundings, the inner resources and power of the EPI Company of CAEP. Based on the study of opportunity and threats, advantage and disadvantage, it points out the company's developing strategy and direction. This paper is trying to make a clear thought of the company's future growth, it also hopes to provide other EPI companies or the would-be EPI companies beneficial reference and enlightenment. It stresses on making strategies, and there is still much left to study in carrying out these strategies in such areas as marketing and financial management.
