As the main participant of trade, state-owned trade corporations will face problems of existence and development in near future.State-owned trade corporations have lots of difficulties nowadays after decades of development. Their disadvantages include unreasonable layout, unreasonable structure of goods and market, etc. All these problems owe to our foreign trade system which has been closed for a long time. Our economy conditions and foreign trade system will change a lot after we enter WTO and state-owned trade corporations also will have reforms.As we enter WTO, it will bring new opportunities and challenges to state-owned trade corporations. The most important thing for them to do is to gain advantages and change their disadvantages, and then choose appropriate development strategy, which can be medial-trade strategy, industrialize trade strategy and integrated business company strategy. Medial-trade strategy means that trade corporation takes the role of trade or up to sales and will not participate production process. Its' core competitive advantages will be private brand. The significance of industrialize trade strategy is that it combines the advantages of both producer and trader, so it will boost the improvement of product and industry structure and help corporations to build up brand. Integrated business company strategy will allocate work all round the world so that it can make use of international advantages.Marketing are important assistance tactics along the enforcement process of development strategy. It will have direct effect on the success of whole strategy, so state-owned trade corporations should pay more attention to marketing.All in all, through the analysis of the conditions of state-owned trade corporations, this paper try to find an appropriate existence and development way for them.
