Logistics management plays a key role in enterprise operation, and inventory control is one of the most important parts of Logistics management.ln the environment of supply chain management, there appear many new changes and new features in the field of Logistics management. At the same time, We also face new challenges in inventory control. To solve those new problems, this paper gives some new ideas and new methods in inventory control. Some factors encountered while we implement the new methods are concerned in the paper as well.Chapter 1 concerns the analysis and evaluation on traditional methods of inventory control. At first, the chapter introduces the basic theory of inventory control, which includes the concept and utility of inventory, basic nomenclatures in this field, the content and target of inventory control. Then introduction and evaluation on traditional methods of inventory control are given: how they operate, what differences and connections are there among them , what virtues and shortcomings do they have? Those two parts review and analyze the basic content of traditional inventory control, which is the theoretical foundation of the paper.Chapter 2 concerns the analysis of inventory control in the environment of supply chain management. The chapter discusses supply chain management in detail: its background, its concept and connotation, its essential ideas and feathers, etc. Supply chain management is a kind of new management thought which appeared in the new environment of market competition. It has imposed great influence on the operation and management activities of enterprises. In the new management environment, enterprises face a lot of new challenges in the field of inventory control. Those problems can not be solved completely in the old way, and it is also the key issue of the paper.Chapter 3 is the core of the paper, which concerns study of inventory control in the environment of supply chain management. In this chapter, an integrated inventory control pattern and some new methods are given to solve those new problems appears in the new environment. Those new methods of inventory control are vender managed inventory, united inventory management, TPL managed united inventory and multi-level inventory optimization and control.Chapter 4 is an important part of the paper. In the environment of supply chain management, the new methods of inventory control have different feathers. If we implement those new methods in the old way, good results are hard to obtain. Therefore, we must deal with three key problems: establishment of supply chain information system, business process re-engineering and principal-agent relationship in the supply chain cooperation.Chapter 5 is the conclusion of the paper. In the environment of supply chain management, traditional methods of inventory control faced many difficulties.
