In The European Parliament, Political Parties And Their Functional Analysis

The paper mainly uses the method of combining the case study with over-all study, comparative analytic method and historical analytic method. It ap-proaches the functions of parties in the European Parliament by means of ana-lyzing them.Although European Community (European Union) continuously enlarged and seats in the European Parliament were constantly increased, the number of the Political Groups maintains between seven and ten. There are now seven Po-litical Groups within the Parliament in different sizes. In order to scientifically make a through study the functions of the political parties in the European Par-liament, the political parties are properly classified. The political features of the political parties in the European Parliament are the transnational Political Groups and the national party delegations (political parties) in the transnational Political Groups.The political parties in the European Parliament are the inevitable result of introducing the representative system into the process of European integra-tion. As a political body, the political parties in the European Parliament must take on some certain functions and play their proper role in every link of the political course. The functions of the political parties in the European Parlia-ment are mainly embodied in two aspects. One is embodied in playing the role in the European Parliament, mainly in the arrangement of personnel and the organization or the selection of members of the European Parliament, the elec-tion of the leaderships, the parliamentary committees, and conference of presi-dents, plenary and etc. The other is embodied in the influence on the process of European integration. Each political party in the European Parliament puts forward its own European policy and assumes distinct attitude, and supports, suspects or opposes the process of European integration. The political parties exerted deep influences on European integration. Besides, the political parties in the European Parliament exert a certain influence on domestic politics.The last part of the paper briefly analyzes the development of the transnational party system, deems that the enlargement of the power of the European Parliament exerts a great influence on it, and points out the factors of influence on bringing into play the role of the political parties in the European Parliament, moreover, advances the measures of removing their negative influences.
