With the transferring of Chinese tobacco vocation from seller's market to buyer's market and the pressure of joining WTO, the existential problems in Chinese tobacco and tobacco enterprise have been exposed entirely. All problems are focused on one: Chinese tobacco enterprise has low product competitive power and the production management system has not adapted to new competitive environment in the case that their production management level is straggling relatively. So, tobacco enterprise, especially large ones, should grasp the opportunities and change or consummate production management system in time, which ensure that tobacco enterprise can produce products of high quality, low cost with high competitive power and win in the coming international competition.As the largest tobacco enterprise in Asia, Yuxi Hongta Group experienced development procedure at very fast speed, the procedure was a history of Chinese tobacco production management changing. Lots of production experiences of it had been spread in other enterprises. The whole tobacco vocation now is basically 'Yuyan mode'. In the case that tobacco situation has changed greatly, some problems in production management appear in Yuxi Hongta Group as other enterprises do, which are affecting product's competitive power in market. The author wishes the paper could offer some helpful revelations by studying the production management of Yuxi Hongta Group.By means of analyzing tobacco conditions and dissecting the production management of Yuxi Hongta Group, the paper studies existential problems and brings forward corresponding countermeasures. In the last the paper offers several suggestions, which might improve production management level. The paper is divided into three parts, which are summarized as follows:Firstly, it analyses the tobacco vocation actuality and the development history, existential problems of the production management of Yuxi Hongta Group. There are three chapters in this part. Chapter one introduces tobacco vocation's new competitive environment and problems; chapter two discusses the significance of studying tobacco production management; chapter three analyses the actuality and problems of Yuxi Hongta Group in production and operation, the existential problems lying in the three aspects- quality, equipment, production cost. Secondly, it studies the countermeasures of improving Yuxi Hongta Group production management level. There are three chapters in this part. Aiming at the problems on quality, equipment and production cost, the paper studies countermeasures respectively.Thirdly, it explores tobacco enterprise common regularity of production management. Based on studying Yuxi Hongta Group, the author puts forward suggestions for all tobacco enterprises to improve production management level. These suggestions mainly involve: production thinking, production organization, production plan and production control, etc.In the paper, some viewpoints, such as quality cost analysis, quality skill analysis, equipment multi-layer maintenance, will play an important role in tobacco production management.
