With increasing demands on a variety of training programs and their rapid developments in contents and forms, experimental training, originated from the western countries, has been spreading quickly in recent years in China. First introduced into China in 1995, it has become flourishing within a short period of time in the Chinese market, which is characterized by an increasingly heated competition among training institutions and a rapidly growing demand on employee training by local and foreign enterprises. Such being the case, the question pops up as to "what is the future of experimental training and how to adapt for this competition environment?" Starting from its origin and history, and based on the research on the market, this thesis is aimed at providing some insights by urging those training companies to build up their core competences, gain their sustainable competitive advantages and enhance the development in this field. Chapter One gives a brief introduction to the essence of experimental training as well as its future trend, i.e. its quickening pace of globalization. It differs in its "concept of trial and learning" from other types of training and has been quite popular in many countries, especially in some Asian countries in recent years. Chapter Two conducts a detailed analysis into the experimental training market. Based on the PEST theory and Michael Porter's competitive strategy theory, the research has been carried out on some training companies and the competition they are faced with. Experimental training has great potential and surely its proportion among the total demands for training programs will gradually go up in future. And with the increasingly fierce competition in this trade, the training companies could survive and maintain the sustainable development only if they build up their core competences. Chapter Three devotes a detailed account of core competences and competitive advantages of those experimental training companies. Based on core competences theory advocated and advanced by some famous scholars and practitioners, the research has been conducted on the strategies and competitive advantages of Renzhongren Educational Ltd. Co., a pioneer in the experimental training field in China. It shows that core competences can help provide companies new concepts and mentalities, improve their adaptability to the changes in the market and thus maintain their competitive advantages over other competitors. Chapter Four discusses the ways of obtaining core competences by those experimental training companies. While developing their core competences, they still need to take such factors into serious consideration as quality, service, brand, price, safety, etc. By improving their operations and perfecting their operational systems, the companies can build up its core competences, and ultimately elevate their competitiveness in the Chinese market.
