Qiubai Cultural Thought

QuQiubai, an early communist party number who was known as a statesman as well as a savant, developed his profound and unique thinking on culture. He came up to a consice definition about "culture" on the basis of materialist dialectics established by Marx and Engels. Different from those contemporary scholar, QuQiubai made a thorough analysis and comparison on feudalistic culture, capitalistic culture, proletariat culture which was divided subject to social stage by himself. He revealed and criticized decadent feudalist culture and capitalistic culture while praised and extolled proletariat cultcre. He furthermore, absorbed and inherited culture thinking on culture heritage and class nature raised by Lenig. Combining his culture thinking and real social situation, QuQiubai tried to find a solution of culture to save china. He advocated culture revolution against exsting culture malpractice. In his view only when culture revolution come to promote new culture establishment, will hisidealistic culture--proletariat culture be formed. Even thoughthere are some certain weakness in his definition concerning concept, his proposal on the culture thinking is valuable for our study on culture.
