With the expansion of government power, the power of government public credit weakens widely in many countries in the world, characterized by government images' being damaged and general trust crisis. The relationship between the public and the government, as the principal and agent, becomes out of order in different degrees, and then government credit problems appear.Credit plays an important role in government's well running. By credit, government can obtain its legitimation, lower its running costs, promote the interaction between the public and the government, and cultivate a healthy market environment. That government lack credit widely increases the costs of government running. However, credit will not be produced itself-it must be established. So it's important to establish a system limiting government's lacking credit to help government's good running.As a transforming country-China, the government, especially the local government faces serious credit problems. It's disadvantageous for the economic development and government self-development. In this dissertation, the author will discuss how to establish government credit in China, using developed countries as reference. The author hope the discussion will be helpful for establishing Chinese government credit.The dissertation is divided into five parts:In the first part, the author narrates the study background, status in quo and significance;In the second part, the author discusses the concept of government credit and its theoretic origins;In the third part, the author analyzes the significance of credit for a government's well running by discussing credit relationships;In the fourth part, the author introduces the status in quo of government credit, and analyzed the reason why the government becomes not creditable widely;In the fifth part, the author analyzes how to establish a system limiting government's behavior lacking credit to promote government's well running.At last, according to the situation in China, the author reemphasizes the significance of credit for China now.
