Insurance Company Disclosure Of Financial Information

In order to improve and perfect the insurance market, to regularize the competitions in the insurance market, and to meet the demands of the insurant and the potential insurance customers, an urgent task that must be done by all the parties in the insurance market is to know the stability and financial conditions of insurance companies. On Nov.7th, 2003, PICC successfully issued its stocks in Hong Kong Stock Exchanges, which makes itself the first state-owned financial enterprise to become a whole-listed company. On Dec. 17th and 18th, the same year, CLIC respectively issued its stocks in Hong Kong and New York. Thus the two biggest insurance companies in China have successively issued stocks in overseas markets, which symbolized the beginning of the insurance sector in China to be connected with the outside tightly. Once the insurance companies issued their stocks, the people who need the necessary information would be stricter with the insurance companies in the information they revealed.Many research methods, such as comparison research, criterion analysis and cross-subject research, are used in this thesis. Through analyses of information asymmetry in insurance market, associated with Accounting Rules for Insurance Companies, and with a reference to international practice in revealing one's financial information, different users of insurance information are classified. Also the principles of insurance information revealment are discussed and the current situation of insurance information revealment is analyzed in this thesis. On the basis of all above, suggestions are put forward about the content of insurance information revealment and the way to improve the level of insurance information revealment in China, while the means of insurance information revealment are generalized and summarized.
