With the rapid development of science and technology and the deepening of the construction of market economy, electronic commerce is not strange to us.The 21st century will be the era of information. The advantage of electronic commerce is recognized by us more and more. We must think deeply how to grasp the pulse of the times and promote the development of electronic commerce. In order to ensure the sustained, rapid and healthy growth of electronic commerce, legislation must go first. The sound legal system can make electronic commerce develop more smoothly.The realm of electronic commerce is very immense. Accordingly the electronic commerce law includes so many branchs that we can not elaborate them in a single article. This essay mainly discuss some very important issues about it including the fundamental concept of electronic commerce and electronic commerce law, the specific characteristics of electronic contract and the legal issues in it, electronic payment and certification, protection of customers' rights and interests in electronic commerce, application of law and jurisdiction. Among them the electronic contract part is the most important one.The current law about electronic commerce should be amended and supplemented. The electronic commerce law should adhere to the principles of neutrality, self-rule and safety. Electronic contract should be viewed as a written one. Certification authority's legal status and the parties' rights and obligations should be stipulated explicitly. The rights and interests of the customers must be safeguarded. The parties' opinions and stands about the application of law and jurisdiction should be respected.
