This is an investigation & study report on human resource management (HRM) of Baotou Iron & Steel (Group) Co., LTD.Firstly, the report introduces the current state of the company, including development plan, organization structure, and products, HRM pattern and so on. Meanwhile, it explains the designing purpose of the questionnaires, how to sample, and how to deal with the data. Secondly, it gives a complete and comprehensive study on the company's HRM system based on HRM theory and typical patterns and the sample data. The main problems are: job analysis need to be enhanced, performance appraisal method and content need to be enriched, compensation structure need to be adjusted, training and development need to be strengthened, labor relationship need to relocated, career development management is yet to start. Finally, it gives some suggestions on improving HRM, enhancing employee's capability, heightening company's core competency.The final conclusion is that, the most important thing is to train the staffs who worked in HR department, improving their capabilities, and then train the managers, engineers, and operators. Second, enhancing the foundational works, especially job analysis, making job description. All of those will provide reference information for performance appraisal. Third, enriching the appraisal methods, it will help appraise staffs more comprehensive. Forth, adjusting compensation structure, it should be based on pay-for-performance. Fifth, enhancing the work of company culture construction. Finally, reinforcing investigation and study, it can be help to work out a more suitable policy.This study will give great help to iron & steel industry and large-scale state owned enterprise on HRM.
