Enterprises can enhance their competitiveness by implementation of a well-developed logistics supply chain management in confrontation of heating competitions and challenges. However, most domestic enterprises merely put their concentration on partial links of supply chain, specifically, forward logistics, with less or insufficient attention on reverse logistics. In view of this, this thesis proposes the concept of reverse logistics, analyzing the feasibility of reverse logistics strategy adopted in enterprises and elaborating on inventory control in reverse logistics strategies adopted in enterprises. The previous inventory modules basically take no consideration of factors such as goods rejection and products backflow. Under the client-oriented trend of today, goods rejection or products backflow is more often than not universal. Large amount of backflow goods have resulted in serious inventory waste. In inventory module presented in this thesis, reverse logistics is introduced and a series of innovative inventory control modules with much more feasibility have been developed and verified. Therefore, the theory of inventory control has been enriched and meanwhile, application of traditional inventory control modules has been broadened and theoretical foundation has been provided to enterprises that implement inventory control in Reverse Logistics strategy. The whole thesis falls into six parts. Chapter one has briefly analyzed the feasibility and competitive advantages of Reverse Logistics strategy in enterprises and elaborated the importance of inventory control in the process of logistics management. In chapter two, inventory control basis of Reverse Logistics and features of backflow products have been explored quantitatively, which go as follows: On the occasion of independent & same distribution of demand, the distribution of products backflow amount is identical to the distribution of demand with much lower mean and variance. On the occasion of invariant mean and lower variance of demand as well as lower product return rate, the amount of product return is very stable. Chapter three sees an exploitation of traditional inventory control on stochastic demand. Based on a typical "News-boy" problem, singular value inthe mode of goods rejection under the circumstances of fixed replenish cost as well as non-fixed replenish cost have been respectively inferred. The conclusion (sees 3.13, 3.18 and 3.24) is similar to that of "News-boy" problem, yet the backflow rate and unit cost of handling backflow products (i.e. factors of reverse logistics) have a decisive influence on the conclusion. On the foundation of chapter three, double-period inventory module and multi-period inventory module of period replenish in the mode of goods rejection have been studied in chapter four, the conclusion of which is a series of signal marginal values without fixed cost for replenish. It will turn out to two series of signal marginal values if we take fixed cost for replenish in consideration. Chapter five introduces the theory of multi-echelon inventory, with initiative discussion on multi-echelon inventory control of period replenish in the mode of goods rejection. In chapter six, a comprehensive summary has been made about the whole thesis, with prospective study and potential problems raised. The kernel of the dissertation consists in chapter two, three and four.Pengcheng Bao(Transportation planning & management)Directed by Wang Xiao...
