Thinking Of The Party's Leading Cadres Of Party Spirit

Comrade Jiang Zeming pointed out in the Speech on the Symposium for Commemorating 72 Anniversary of the Foundation of the Communist Party of China (CPC): "the Communist Party members strengthen their Party spirit -it is an indispensable condition under which the Party can keep its progressiveness. New period, tasks and environment require that the Communist Party members more conscientiously enhance Party spirit. Some comrade think what meaning it is to discuss Party spirit in such a period when we are developing socialist market economy and implementing reform and opening-up-this is absolutely a mistake." Under new historical condition, it is highly important and imminent for leading cadres to strengthen their Party spirit. This is an actual need of accomplishing historical mission taken on the Party. This is a need of overcoming bad phenomenon existing in the contingent of leading cadres. This is a need of resisting negative factors existing in reform, opening-up and market economy. This is also a need of coping with complicated and varied international environment. Leading cadres' Party spirit advanced by the Party is always closely linked with tasks taken on by the Party in all history period. At present, leading cadres must strengthen their Party spirit. They must adhere to taking Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important thought of the "Three Represents" as their guide to action. They must foster staunch conviction in communism. Efforts must be made to practice the purpose of serving the people. They must persist in giving play to the fine traditions of working hard. Emphasis must be placed on democratic centralism and iron-like discipline stipulated on the basis of high awareness. Leading cadres' self-cultivation of Party spirit may be summarized to establish and persist in correct standpoint and worldview. It is necessary for leading cadres to undergo long-time hardship if they want to become a genuine member of the Communist Party, a person who is hobble, pure and moral, a person who is divorced from vulgar taste and a person who is benefit to the people. They should conscientiously withstand the test of trials and tribulations in the course of studying Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important Thought of the "Three Represents", devoting to the practice of building socialism with Chinese characteristics, and taking part in strict inner-Party life. The entire Party members, especially leading cadres, all should do like this. Accumulating over a long period, Our Party will improve the quality of its contingent to a high extent as a whole, so that our Party can be more energetic and firm and do its work in all fields. And so, the cause of building socialism under the leadership of our Party will be more prosperous.
