Immediately after the cold war, whether China was American friend or enemy had once again become controversial in the elite cycle in the United States, due to the rising of China itself.In mid 1990s, the resurgence of conservatism in U.S led to a kind of prevailing conviction that China was posing immediate threat upon America and America should take prompt action to contain its rising. A hand of far-right conservatives, most of whom were neo-conservative, Christian right and military hawk faction, were the staunch advocates of containing policy toward China.Meanwhile, the conservatism enjoyed great development in public life and social politics. This facilitated the far-right conservatives carry on series of activities on the levels of public media, legislature and policy-making, which thus helped they successfully impose negative impact on American China policy.However, the impact was limited.
