Since the 1990s, researches on corporation outsourcing, which are usually from the point of view of outsourcer, have mainly focused on information technology outsourcing, human resource outsourcing, etc. Researches in view of outsourcing firms mostly remain at the operation level, such as analysis of their advantages and disadvantages and the operating methods. For the above-mentioned situation, the author begins to think: what's the feasibility of OEM/ODM? What are the decisive factors of corporation performance? Based on some related literatures, this thesis aims at a discussion on the following four questions: 1) The relationship between the motivation and the intensity of OEM/ODM suppliers; 2) The relationship between the motivation and the OEM/ODM modes; 3) The relationship between the intensity and the performance of OEM/ODM suppliers; 4) The relationship between the OEM/ODM modes and the performance; 5) If OEM/ODM intensity, modes, motivation and corporate performance will vary with different kinds of corporations, different developing stage, different scale enterprises, and different industry?The author conducted a questionnaire investigation into the OEM/ODM suppliers in Shenzhen by random sample. The questionnaires distributed were totally 128, and the valid were 101. The author adopted SPSS12.0 to made a statistical analysis of the 101 questionnaires, and came to the following conclusions: 1) The motivation of positive outsourcing suppliers has nothing to do with the OEM/ODM intensity, while the motivation of passive outsourcing suppliers is negatively related to their OEM/ODM intensity. 2) The motivation of outsourcing suppliers is positively related to invested in special assets and R&D. 3) The OEM/ODM intensity is found to be positively concerned with the capability of the firm and negatively concerned with the profitability of the firm. But it is not related to sales growth rate. 4) The R&D has nothing to do with the sales growth rate, while is positively concerned with the capability and the profitability of the firm; invested in special assets is found to be positively concerned with the sales growth rate and the capability, while it is negatively related to the profitability of the firm. 5) In different kinds of corporations, the are some differences in OEM/ODM intensity, motivation of passive, R&D, invested in special assets, profitability; in different scale enterprises, the are some differences in the motivation, the intensity of OEM/ODM, R&D; in different industry, the are some differences in the motivation, firm capability; in different developing stage, the are some differences in the motivation of passive, R&D, invested in special assets, firm capability.
