Economic growth and income distribution are two main issues of economy research. The relationship of growth and distribution is the most direct reflection of the contradiction between efficiency and equality on the economic level. Marx's remark on the relationship of growth and distribution in capitalist society shows that the essential disadvantage of Capitalism lies not in lacking motivation of economic growth but in the separation of labor and wealth as well as in lacking the equality of allocation. Capitalism is the basic reason which causes the sharp contradiction between wealth growth and equal distribution. The essential way to solve the contradiction is to set up the institution of socialism. The advantages of Socialism lie not only in that it has more advantages than Capitalism in developing productivity quickly but also in that only Socialism can make fruits brought by high-developed productivity be owed by the whole labors.Highly developed social productivity is the material basic-stone on which the relationship of growth and distribution in socialist countries builds according to Marx's theory. But it is the result of jumping advance of history that socialism was realized in those poor countries. The difference between historical background and theoretical premise made socialist countries take up the policy "growth first distribution second" gradually while exploring how to dispose the relationship of growth and distribution in socialist countries in the early period. As the first socialist country in the world, the Soviet Union had made a creative and difficult exploration on choosing developing policy of growth and distribution and had exerted profound effect on other socialist countries like East Europe and China.China was a society with high equality before the reform and opening-up. Our nation put forward the rule of "focus on efficiency with attention on equality" after the torture of "equalitism". The reform of economic system has resulted in high-speed growth and consolidated important material base for income growth of our inhabitants. But at the same time it has given rise to considerate change in the frame of our habitants' income and the influence that income discrepancy has on economic growthhas turned from support to confine. Whether equal distribution-as the significantreflection of Socialism's advantages-can be realized is directly relevant to thehistorical fate of socialist countries. As a developing country, China must take a serious attitude toward the problem of increasing income and fortune distance which is exposed in the process of economic growth and tackle it prudently. It requires us to stick to the essential economic system of socialism, construct socialist harmonious society under the guidance of scientific viewpoint of development, realize the well-being propelled by allocation modulation and economic growth as well as head for common wealth during the harmonious development of growth and distribution.
