The report of the World Tourism Organization in 1992 indicates that the tourism industry has become the biggest industry of the world. As an important part of the tourism industry, the rate of travel agency increases by degrees in tourism industry through development of twenty years after reform open. To promote the travel agency developing healthily, many travel agencies introduce the ethical management in practice, and some scholars bring a lot of instructive advices. Based on the theory of social responsibility, and integrate our travel agency's unique characteristics, this essay analyses the social responsibility applying in the travel agency.The corporation's social responsibility has become an important problem and been attended by many corporations, as some corporation's irresponsible economic doing , especially the large-scale corporation, has arose the attention of the society and public, such as the pollution to the environment of the corporation, the unfair treatment to the employees, the cheat to the customers. Some scholars pay attention the social responsibility to the large-scale corporation, and a lot of studies of the tourism corporation are focused on the ecotourism . Based on the production of the scholars, this essay discusses the travel agency's social responsibility from the economic responsibility, the legal responsibility and the ethical responsibility, and further discusses those responsibilities applying on the stakeholders. This essay compartmentalize the travel agency's stakeholders three styles, definitive stakeholder, expectant stakeholder, and latent stakeholder, based on the Score based Approach of scholar Mitchell of America and travel agency's characteristics, and bring forward the responsive influence strategies.After the above mentioned, this essay considers that our travel agency should take on social responsibility on their own, especially the lot of medium and small travel agencies , and they will face the competition with the foreign capital and joint venture travel agency after our country entering the WTO . To take on the social responsibility, besides the social systems and criterions of law , the self-discipline ofthe travel agency is vital important. The idea's foundation of the social responsibility represent the aspect of travel agency's culture management and the managers' social responsibility idea. So this essay tries to bring forward some ways of developing the managers' social responsibility idea of the travel agency. Finally, this essay considers that there is a sequence in taking social responsibility of the travel agency according to the travel agency's scales and strength.
