After the cold war, with the disappearance of threat that the western countries confronted together, the great change appears in the relation between U.S.A. and countries of European Union. The USA and European Union have appeared by assuming the role of ally all the time in the history of political platform of the world, but this does not mean it is so close that there is no difference between the two at all.
