As a product of the Cold War, the U.S-Japan alliance was not terminated after the Cold War; on the contrary, it has been endowed with a new mission. After the Second World War, Japan developed its economy under the protection of the U.S and its national security strategy also followed that of the U.S at that time. In fact, the U.S-Japan alliance was no more than the shield of the U.S. After the Cold War, with the disintegration of the Soviet Union, both the U.S and Japan lost their model enemy, As a result, the U.S-Japan alliance was suspected during the early period and even fell in drift situation. However, the U.S immediately realized that its dominant role in the Asia-pacific area would be undermined without the U.S-Japan alliance, while Japan realized it couldn't become a political major power without the acceptance and support of the U.S. In addition, the rise of China will influence the future development of the Asia-pacific area; the reinvigorating and enforcement of the U.S-Japan alliance have more comprehensives meanings.The U.S-Japan alliance is an important platform for the U.S to dominate the Asia-pacific area and even the whole world, because the capitals and technologies as well as geography situation of Japan are all what the U.S need to realize this. That's why the U.S tried to enhance the Japan's international role and support Japan's alien mission after the Cold War. During the time of the global strategy adjustment, with the support and encouragement of the U.S, Japan began to break through the peace institution and implement the crisis management legislation gradually. Meanwhile, Japan strengthened its defensive force began to carry out its alien mission to improve Japan's international political and military role. The U.S and Japan have common interests, and the U.S-Japan alliance has provided a crucial frame and method. The more important is that, through the adjustment of U.S-Japan alliance, the Asia-pacific strategy, even the global strategy of the U.S affected Japan's security strategy.
