China - Asean Free Trade Area And Wto Legal Issues Research

Today, economy globalization interweave with regional economy integration.Such kind of international environment gives birth to the ASEAN-China Free TradeArea. World Trade Organization symbolizes the trend of economy globalization, andthe ASEAN-China FTA reflects the trend of regional economy integration. Therefore,it is significant to research on the relations between ASEAN-China FTA and WTO.The research is useful for the building and improving of the system of theASEAN-China FTA, and for the positive interaction between ASEAN-China FTA andWTO. Regional economy integration and regional trade agreements are allowed inWTO system, but they are subjected to some regulations. In addition, WTO set upCommittee on Regional Trade Agreements (CRTA) which is responsible for theexamination of the Regional Trade Agreements. WTO also set a system of noticing,reporting and examination. After analyze the series of agreements that set up theASEAN-China FTA, we can see that ASEAN-China FTA has observed the WTOpertinent regulations. ASEAN-China FTA has used the experience of WTO forreference, and modified some specific regulations as well. On the basis of analyzingthe relationship between ASEAN-China FTA and WTO, the writer put forwardsuggestions on how to maintain harmonious relations between them.
