'Discipline and Punish: the Birth of Prison' is thought as the representative of Foucault's power view. The storm of revolution which happened in May in 1968 is a turning point of Foucault's study on Power. After that ,he used the 'tiny power'to instead the 'macroscopic power'.And the study of 'tiny power' was bassed on his deconstruction of the capitalized subject in the West.In the framework of his anti-humanism,he furtherly study the reletion between Virtue (Knowledge) , Subject and Power. The original view of Foucault's 'tiny power' is his comprehension on the charac- teristic of Power and the concrete pattern, by which Power, Subject and Virtue (Knowledge) are related to each other. In 'Discipline and Punish: the Birth of Prison', Foucault researched and discussed the relationship between Virtue (Knowledge), Subject and Power, by analyzing the relation between the discipline practice which is used to control people's body and subject of the modern social science. He researched the imprison on the background of the discussion of normal modern (the discipline which has been applied in school, factory, hospital ,and army),and explained the way by which the Panopticon was used as the pattern and corn of the whole series practice discipline. This thesis comes to the main theme from the 'Panopticon' which was designed by Bentham Jeremy and from his Utilitarism. At the same time, followsing the train of Foucault's anti- humanism, this thesis would discuss Foucault's power view as detailed and complete as possible. By analyzing Foucault's power view, the thesis would expound and prove: Foucault's " tiny power" is not only an important part of his critique of the western modern society and its principle of law, but also an important section of his "ontology of history concerning ourselves", which reflects his concern on people's living plight in the modern times.
