As a important component of Mao Zedong Thought, it's thought on women was formed during the course of finding a series of basic answers on how Chinese women gained liberation and independence in the background of semi-colonial and semi-feudal society and combining Marxist theory on women with practice of Chinese women's movement by Chinese communist party. Mao Zedong Thought on women mainly involve four aspects: Classes oppression and the system of exploitation being thought to be the rootstock of inequality between men and women; The way of Chinese women liberation; Women's great role and status in revolution and building communism; Maintaining women's legal rights and interests. Today, we can still enlighten from the women's work in base areas new-democratic phases and the great achievements in women's liberation work soon after the People's Republic of China was established.
