The deep reason for the formation and maintenance of the special relationship between U.S. and Israel is a high degree of identity of U.S. culture to the Israeli and Jewish cultures. This thesis tries to probe into the specific manifestations of the high degree of identity of U.S.-Israeli religious and cultural value systems. First, the U.S. cultural tradition shows sympathy for Jewish people and Israel. In U.S. there is no tradition of anti-Semitism like in Europe. American people have the sense of guilty for the Holocaust and the suffering of the Jewish people. Secondly, the cultural identity of American people to Jewish people and Israel originate from their shared values. U.S. culture and Israeli culture share the characters of"melting pot"and diversity of the immigration cultures and American people and Jewish people have the similar experiences of expansion and the spirit of pioneers. Finally, the identity also comes from the shared"Judeo-Christian Heritage". American people regard themselves as"the Chosen People"as Jewish people do.This thesis applies the constructivist theory of image cognizance between"egos"and"others"to inquire into the influence of culture upon the inter-state relationships. The cultural identity is the basic factor of the U.S.-Israel special relationship. In the virtue of its profound cultural identity basis, the U.S.-Israel relationship displays the character of stability in the vicissitudes of geopolitics and global environments.
