China Nvocc Responsibility For Risk Management Study

As a new-emerging industry, NVOCC is playing an increasingly important role in the shipping industry. The ability to assume liability risk is one of the major actors that affect the development of NVOCC in China. This thesis is to research how NVOCC in China can improve such ability. And the whole paper is to answer such questions as follows: what's liability risk faced by NVOCC? Is it indispensable for NVOCC to control it? Is there any valuable experience we can use for reference? And what tools could be used to control such risk?As a part of shipping economy, NOVCC is playing a dual role. For one thing, they are carrier and provide shipping services for shippers. For another, they have no vessel and entrust the real carrier to finish the transportation of goods, and now they are shippers. And the relationship among NVOCC, Freight Forwarder and the real carrier is consanguineous. At present, there are more than 1600 companies are certificated to provide NVOCC service in China, which separate in eastern seaside cities. And in recent years many foreign NVOCC companies entered into China and develop rapidly. Therefore our national corporations are up against very stiff competition. So that it is necessary for them to improve the management and make enough preparation for the further development.Liability risk is the possibility of suffering a property loss from an illegal behavior or special statutory cases. In the light of this circumscription, we can see that the liability risk arises from the responsible or duty shouldered by a company. With the development of market economy in China, liability risk would exert great negative effect on companies' operation. So that the management of such risk become an important part of risk management.
