The thesis is to discuss the evolution,distribution and feature of the People's Republic of China's(PRC's) diplomacy, regarding the visits(1949-2006) by diplomats in chief of China as research objects, from the perspective of summit diplomacy. Therefore, the author collects all the data of the visits from 1949 to 2006 by diplomats in chief of China, in order to analyze the distribution and features of China's diplomacy reflected by the data through analyzing them.Through reviewing the historical distribution and regional distribution of visits by diplomats in chief of China, and the relation between the visits and great power diplomacy, the author found out that the number of the visits by diplomats in chief in different periods after 1949 differs greatly and the regional distribution varies greatly too. The visits to great powers step up.There are obvious regularities characterized by different phases in the visitso six continents. Diplomats in chief visited only Asia, Africa and Europe before 1978 and visited not only Asia, Africa and Europe but also Latin America, North America and Oceania from 1978 to 1991. The visits covered six continents and the number increased greatly from 1992 to 2006. This phenomenon shows the changes of China's foreign policy in different periods and the transition of the world pattern.Diplomats in chief of China have visited the countries all over six continents for 633 times after the foundation of the PRC, being characteristic of omni-direction and universality. However, most of the visits have been concentrated in Asia, Africa and Europe, accounting for about 85% of the whole number of visits, which indicates that China's diplomacy focuses on Asia, Africa and Europe. The visits by diplomats in chief of China after the Cold War show that China formulates and carries out the foreign policies in accordance with the general strategy of "Great powers are key ones, the surrounding countries relations are primary things, developing countries are basic ones, multilateral relations are arenas."...
