Female crime is a serious social problem that must not be ignored. Such crimes have not only caused many tragedies in families but also done increasing damages to the society, which has become a factor not to be neglected in maintaining economic development and social stability and shall be given full attention. In light of the increase of such crimes, their causes have become a hot spot for discussions and concerns. This paper, guided by the theory of law, from the perspective of society and gender and through documentary search and field survey, makes analysis on female crime in social transitional period and explores the social causes of such crimes by way of using questionnaires and case study. It aims to break through traditional views in this field, clarify misunderstandings and change the notion that the makings of female criminals are the cause of their crimes.The paper covers three parts which fall into five chapters.The first part is the preface, which defines the general concept of female crime, states the current situation in this regard and the general academic research of criminologists and sociologists home and abroad on causes of female crime. It points out that, compared with male crime, female crime have certain particularity, and shall be given more attentions; research in this field shall be carried out in the context of the whole society.The second part divides into four chapters, which, from the perspective of social system, role in the society, social culture, and family and marriage, makes in-depth analysis on the social causes of female crime and reveals the inequality of resource distribution and gender behind female crime, thus presents a complete picture of the social inducements for female crime.Chapter I: Analysis on the Role of China's Social System Transition in Female crime. From the perspective of social system, it analyzes and demonstrates the influence of China's social transition on female crime. Large-scaled migration has weakened the administration of competent department over migrate women, who, at the same time, find it hard to adapt to the new social environment. As a result, many female crimes arise from pressure of making a living. In addition, the rapid development in market economy also brings along certain negative influence, such as the spread of money worship, the difficulty for women to find a job, low economic ranking for women, which causes unbalance in women's frame of mind and leads to more female crimes with more harmfulness in nature.Chapter II: Analysis on the Inducement of Women's Social Role in Current Female crime. From the perspective of women's changing roles in the society, this chapter argues that, with women's frequent contact with and participation in the society, many women are not able to deal with the changes in their social roles and feel confused facing conflicting and unclear social roles as well as the discontinuity and failure of their social roles. Under various inducements, women with poor self-control tend to produce impulsion to aberrance actions and commit crimes.Chapter III: Analysis on the Role of Social Culture in Current Female crime. This chapter demonstrates the significant impacts of social culture on female crime. Analysis is made in three levels: First, with the constant impact of multi-culture and increasing conflicts in culture and values, there have been great changes in women's minds due to huge concussions to their values of marriage, family and sexuality. Second, both the feudal family and ethical concepts and social & cultural tradition with sexual discrimination nature in the past several thousand years are still working in society nowadays, playing a negative role in women's family and social status. Third, social sympathy toward female has virtually indulged female criminals. Such cultural factors, under certain circumstances, will all become activators at various levels to spur female on a criminal track.Chapter IV: Analysis on the Role of Marriage/family Background in Female crime. This chapter analyzes the inducement of female crime from the perspective of marriage and family background which plays the most important role in causing female crime. It focuses especially on the role of home violence in female crime. Hereby, the author analyses in details the social status quo of home violence, its social results and hidden causes. It is aimed to, by means of intensive analysis on the profound social background of home violence, identify the root of the crimes by victimized women who resort to treating violence with violence. Meanwhile, it is easy for women to lose their minds and break law due to marriage/sentiment crisis and narrow family feelings.Chapter V: Legal Control and Social Prevention Regime for Female crime. Based upon the analysis on the social causes of female crime, the author proposes the following advice. Measures shall be taken from three aspects: intensify the protection of women's legal right, establish a legal environment for combating home violence and build an all-round social preventive and control system. The author strongly recommends a continuous perfection of such grass-root organizations as intermediation organizations, women's federations and comprehensive social safety management agencies, so as to build up a solid social network with scientific and pressing control systems to prevent female crime from the very beginning.The third part is the conclusion. It briefly sets forth the research purpose of this paper, states its research characteristic featured by a close combination of general sociology and criminology theory and characteristics of women, and emphasizes the necessity of studying female crime inducements under the panoramic view of sociology. The author calls for relevant scholars to attach more attention the marginal subject—female crime.
