The Construction Of Social Support Network For Female Caregivers Of Adult Mentally Retarded Families

After the end of nine years of special compulsory education for adults with intellectual disabilities,many of them are faced with the problem of not having a job and nowhere to receive them.They can only be treated daily by a dedicated caregiver at home.Affected by the gender division of the family,the main caregivers of mental retardation are mainly women,and most of them are the mothers of the mentally retarded.In the long-term care life,these women face multiple problems in terms of care and personal physical and mental aspects.In the context of the current imperfect social welfare policy,helping female caregivers of adult mentally retarded families to build their own social support networks is of great significance in overcoming difficulties and improving their own quality of life.This study takes the D community in Gulou District of Nanjing as a practical location,and visits the families of adult intellectually disabled people in the community.The interviews and participatory observation methods are used to collect first-hand information,and the dichotomy of social support theory is used to treat female families.The actual problems faced by caregivers,the formal and informal social support networks are summarized and analyzed.Through interviews,it was found that the social support network of most female caregivers in the community is in a state of fragmentation and cannot support stably.On this basis,the author selected one of the female interviewers with typical groups as the article.On the basis of personal analysis of the case and social support network,the author has worked with the client to develop service goals and plans,implement comprehensive intervention services,assist in mobilizing the resource systems of the case,and link and coordinate resources,in order to help the client to build a social support network of multiple subjects.Based on this practice intervention,this paper puts forward corresponding suggestions on the application of case management and the construction of female caregiver social support network based on past practical experience,including service objects,social workers,government,community,social work institutions and other multi-agents.And hope that this study can provide some reference and reference for the future construction of social support networks involved in case management.
