The Republic of Korea and Singapore are the most typical countries among the Authoritarian countries in the East Asia. The two countries had grown from a small poor country to a developed country in the world because of the authoritarian system. To make a comparative research of the authoritarian system of the two countries will give us a deeper comprehension of the characteristics of the authoritarian system and the transformation of the authoritarian system. Also, to make a research of the authoritarian system of the two countries will provide many experiences for China and other underdeveloped countries' modernizationThis paper is divided into five chapters: The first chapter is mainly about the building and the consolidation of the authoritarian politics of South Korea and Singapore. In this chapter I analyze the reasons for the building of the authoritarian politics. Also I make a comparison on the building and consolidation of the authoritarian politics of the two countries. In chapter two , I make a concrete comparison of the authoritarian politics on economy,political system and society of the two countries. In this chapter, I make a concrete comparison on the building of the government dominated market economy,the relationship between government,party and congress and the social life of the two countries. In chapter three, I make a comparison on the transformation of the authoritarian politics of the two countries. I make this comparison from government, congress and party system and summarize the characteristics of the transformation of the two countries. In chapter four, it is mainly about the relationship between authoritarian politics and modernization. I also summarize some experiences for China from the relationship between authoritarian politics and modernization. In this chapter I discourse the positive role that authoritarian politics plays in the process of modernization and the importance of citizen society and the choice of the political elites. The last chapter is about the conclusion. I make a conclusion that is authoritarian politics is an advisable road to realize modernization for underdeveloped countries. The final aim of authoritarian politics is to cultivate a mature citizen society and realize democratization. The mode of democracy and the road to realize democracy is not sole.
