Natural Right Theory is the core of the Leo Strauss's philosophy. As he thought, the basic value principle has been formed in the western society since the time of Ancient Greek. Besides, Several classic political philosophers such as Socrates, Plato and Aristotle contributed a lot to the forming of this basic value principle rooted in the western society. However, since the modern age, the value principle highlighted by the classic political philosophy had been changed gradually by several modern political philosophers, eventually leading to the theory on Modern Natural Right. Hereby, the thesis aims to research into the Strauss's theory on nature right.First of all, the thesis outlined the historic framework on the theory of nature right. It is known that Strauss's theory on nature right was founded on the basis of his research on classic philosophy as well as his reflection on the modern philosophy. Therefore, outlining the framework on the history of nature right will be helpful to have deeper understanding on the Strauss's theory. Then, in Chapter 2 and Chapter 3, the thesis studies the classic nature right and modern nature right and then makes comments on their difference. As Strauss thought, the difference should be studied carefully because it is likely to be the key to analyze the modern question.. Moreover, in chapter 4,the thesis also showed the influence of Strauss's theory on the current world. In academic circle, the Strauss's theory is contrast to the one led by the Cambridge School .In political world, the Strauss theory has been considered as the theoretical basic of Neo-Conservatism, affecting the national policy of the Bush Administration.Lastly, In view of Materialist conception of history, the thesis has comment on the Strauss's theory on nature right. It is thought that Strauss's theory follows the western traditional value. On the contrary, his theory lacks practice that should be the advantage of Cambridge School. Thus, we should criticize his theory in overall way.
