The late Qing Dynasty was the beginning of legal education modernization. During this special period, China's legal education broke away from traditional patterns step by step and began to educate with advanced ideas and methods of western countries. The new pattern made a useful exploration on combining western education pattern with China's reality to push forward China's legal education modernization, and accumulated much experience. Summing up the experience will play a role in booming current education to train legal professionals consistent with requirement of the times.The first part of this thesis, according to our legal education's historical evolution, analyzes the reason that the new style legal education appeared. Through the introduction of important educational legislation, shows the general frame of curriculum setting. Thus clearly demonstrates the background of new legal education in late Qing Dynasty.The second part takes the curriculum setting as the core, sets Tongwen Institute, Beiyang University, Capital University, Hunan Shiwu University, Capital Law College, Zhili Law College, Hunan Law College and Nobel Law College for example, systemically and roundly represents teaching mode and curriculum setting in kinds of law schools in that time.The last part, relying on analyzing and reorganizing, educes chief features of legal curriculum setting in late Qing Dynasty, which is political, layered, westernized and textuary. Then the article, based on longitudinal contrast between past and present, analyses current problems in our legal education. By investigating issues and countermeasures relating to the western countries, put forward some proposals on legal education and curriculum reform.
