Modernity, as a "double-edged sword", the enlightenment ideals of it has not been completely fulfilled in reality, but fettered its own development ultimately-to a new alienation and ignorance. In a labourer society,people don't resort to action and speech to show who he is,but immerse themselves completely in a world of filling with mammon appetenncy.Arendt pointed out that people have an apathy to politics, lack the capacity to differentiate right from wrong at that time.The public sphere is vanishing day by day.There is no action display space.Freedom can not be realized.This paper attempts to study modernity issues as the breakthrough point, in-depth digging into the unique quality of Arendt's thinking.At the height of classical republicanism to reflect on modernity issues."Between Past and Future" ,the essay seeks out the way out of modernity crisis. I try to set out from four aspects of: (a) The origin of modernity critical theory; (b) Arendt divided human activities uniquely; (c) The "undercurrent" of modernity development; (d) Criticism and reflection to the crisis of modernity.Arendt's thinking lits a "light" for us and wake-up our hope to open a new beginning.Her unique ideas provides the development of our society and the democratic process a useful reference.
