Development assistance is one of the most important parts of international cooperation. It not only embodies international morality, justice and responsibility, but also reflects a nation's pursuit for political and economic interestsChina has provided development assistance to Africa for a long time and continued to do so with new measures after the post cold war. China's foreign policy, policy of development assistance and policy to Africa are backgrounds for understanding China's development assistance to Africa. China's development assistance to Africa relates to three aspects of aim, including politics, economy and international obligation, while equality, mutual benefit, development and cooperation constitute the feature of the assistance. After the cold war, China has developed some new assistance measures, such as soft loans, joint venture and cooperation, writing off or decreasing debt. The three cases—China's educational assistance to Africa, the CNPC's oil project in Sudan, and China's peacekeeping actions in Africa, reflect those three aspects of aim on the part of China in Africa assistance.Mutually beneficial and cooperative, China's development assistance is good for both sides. Despite the different reviews on China's assistance, the rich output from the cooperation between China and Africa could defy any rumors. Of course, China needs to reflect constantly on the problems arising from the process of Africa assistance so as to improve the quality of assistance. In the future when China provides assistance to Africa, it will continue to embody the feature of non-interference, strengthening the non-governmental trend and coping with the international cooperation on development assistance more cautiously.
