Although the U.S. Federal Constitution defines the fundamental political and religious relations, however, the relationship is always mutually affected and complicated. The complex relationship exists because of the religious and cultural backgrounds, secular and spiritual worship of individual freedom, and the separation of church-state relations principle. To the religious right groups in the United States, "culture of life" is particularly important to them. Their political participation is in an active posture. Towards "euthanasia", they think it is an increasingly serious social problem and a sharp decline of moral values in the states. Religious right groups with millions of followers, set off the "anti euthanasia" action. "Terri Schiavo's case" showed us the effects what the religious right group have brought in culture and social life in the United States. In this thesis, I will use "Terri Schiavo's case" as the breakthrough point to analyze the interaction between religion and politics, and show how the religious right groups affect government decision towards public policy. Also, in the thesis, I will try to explore how the religious right groups affect state's political process and their limitations in this process.
