Mao Zedong's"Rapprochement"foreign strategy was an adjustment of PRC's policy in specially historical period and occupies an important position in PRC's history of diplomacy. It has been considered to be a hot issue in research on PRC's diplomacy and Sino-US diplomatic relations."Rapprochement"strategy has can be reduced to "in order to safeguard national security, China established a special kind of strategic relationship with the United States in the field of security ,then, resisted the hegemony of the Soviet Union, the greatest threat to China's security." Therefore,"Rapprochement"strategy was "with the United States together, against the Soviet Union" in the security field. It inherited the paradigm, thought and method of "leans to one side"and re-learned the essence of the international united front which was Well-functioning in the "leans to one side" period. At the same time, it is a summary of lessons learned in the "world revolution" strategy which was implemented in the 1960's, but it still had some sort of the same ideas with the "world revolution" strategy."Rapprochement"foreign strategy was a interactive outcome of complex trilateral Sino-US-Soviet security relations under certain historical conditions. Among the trilateral relations, Sino-Soviet relations, which experienced from alliance to the Soviet Union becoming China's biggest enemy, was the fundamental motivation for China to implement"Rapprochement"foreign strategy. Sino-US relations, with then decreasing threat of mutual security, and "one China" principle reached, was internal, minimum conditions for the establishment of"Rapprochement"strategy. US-Soviet relations, the Soviet Union becoming American's the greatest security challenges, and the formation of Nixon Doctrine, was external, indispensable conditions for"Rapprochement"strategy. The three bilateral relations, and its function in the formation of the"Rapprochement"strategy, if we used a vivid metaphor, is a relationship of "One Body with Two Wings" or "one Hub with Wheels".The core content of"Rapprochement"strategy is a special, strategic relation of Sino-US. It's Specificity was mainly based on the following points: firstly, the special ,strategic relationship was aimed to the Soviet Union; secondly, China and the United States can build strategic cooperation, even if they did not immediately establish diplomatic relation at that time; Thirdly, this strategic relationship was not fixed, subject to various factors, internal and external, and it had undergone three stages, namely the establishment of Sino-US strategic relations in the Mao's period, the establishment of diplomatic relations of Sino-US in the Deng's period , as well as, the termination of the Sino-US strategic relations in the Deng's period. In a sense, "Rapprochement" strategy may perhaps subjectively be an adjustment of alignment's target, to serve only the interests of China's security; but objectively, it did act as historical booster of China's development unconsciously. Through the establishment of a strategic as well as diplomatic relation with the United States, China politically entered the sovereign state system which has been dominated by the West force, mechanism, and ideas. Then, China's reform and opening, brought about by this means it has begun to remove closed economic barriers, and the West market system, capital, technology, started to enter China with large-scale. The original idea of class struggle had been abandoned and China's national development directed towards a new goal, namely the national modernization of Combination of socialist with market economy. In this layer of meaning, the "Rapprochement" strategy is a turning point of China's development direction.
